History of Burghers' Brewery

Havlíčkův Brod gained the brewing right already in the 14th century. Brewing of beer has flourished in a consoled way ever since. At first every burgher used to brew beer on his own, nonetheless burghers gradually began to group into companies and found large breweries. Burghers' Brewery came into existence in 1834 and its recent history as well as modern beer brewing was dated back to the end of the 19th century. During communist era the brewery was nationalized and became part of Horácké pivovary Jihlava, Havlíčkův Brod breweries and East-Bohemian breweries of Hradec Králové to return to the hands of descendants of the original possessors after the revolution. Presently beer production reaches to 84 thousand hectoliters in a year.
